Martha MacDiarmid
Martha’s animation journey began with her storytelling passion. Starting as a studio assistant, she rose through production, development, and script editing. Now at Wild Child Animation, she leverages 15 years in long-form TV, film, and advertising to shift the studio from service-based work to developing original, world-class properties.
As Head of Development, Martha focuses on sourcing exceptional IP, connecting with creative talent, and collaborating with writers, designers, and companies to craft meaningful animated content. Passionate about creating stories that inspire children, she aims to bring joy and value to audiences through imaginative, high-quality programming.
Her career highlights include the BAFTA-winning documentary My Old School (starring Alan Cumming), the animated feature Princess Emmy, and the Emmy-nominated series Ask Lara for the BBC. Her additional credits span Dennis & Gnasher (DC Thomson/CBBC), Marvo the Wonder Chicken (Disney XD), and Wendy, which was nominated for Best TV Series at the Pulcinella Awards. She also developed and produced an animated music video for Tom Gates, a project that played a key role in securing the series.
Outside the studio, Martha enjoys working in her home ceramics studio and spending time with her two young boys, balancing creativity and family life.
